Message for our HSC students

Dear parents, carers and Year 12 students,

Firstly, we would like to commend all of the Year 12 graduates for the exemplary manner in which everyone conducted themselves in Graduation Week. There were many beautiful moments at which teachers and staff could chat, take photos and basically reflect on the significance of one of life's big transition points. I hope that our Year 12 students had a productive study break and that students and families managed the stressful weeks before the HSC as well as you can. It is not easy but, as we always say, make sure that you keep the HSC in proportion and maintain an healthy, balanced lifestyle.

We have a few last minute pieces of information before the HSC begins tomorrow:

  • For English Paper 1 on Wednesday 12/10/22 - please arrive between 9:00 and 9:15 for a 9:50 start. When you arrive at school, please meet in the canteen area and we will enter the gym in course groups, via the warm-up track doorway.
  • Meeting times will be 30 min prior to each exam. For the English papers and Maths 2U exam meet in the canteen area, for all other exams meet in the Level 3 South COLA. We will give all students a hardcopy of the HSC rooming timetable after the English paper tomorrow.
  • Students with special provision can choose to wait with friends in the canteen area or go straight to special provision room N3.07.
  • As per the trials, phones will be collected and locked up in boxes. Please have your phone in a bag, labelled.
  • Please peruse the information on 'exam equipment', listed at the end of the email - same rules as the Trial HSC.
  • Marsden does have a contingency plan, so that HSC exams can continue in the unlikely event of a site closure (due to current Department of Education COVID settings, this should be extremely unlikely in 2022). If a school closure occurs, an announcement will be made to parent emails,  in the Year 12 Wellbeing Classroom and on Facebook. Our alternative setting is very simple - meet at the front of Meadowbank Public School 30mins before your exam.

We wish all our students the best in the HSC exams. Please see us or Ms Lane if you need any additional support during these weeks.

Kind regards,

Mr Wilson and Ms Mirabito
